Castles of Mad King Ludwig: Second Edition

Build an extravagant castle for King Ludwig II of Bavaria, one room at a time. In this tile-laying game for 1–4 players, each player acts as a building contractor, adding rooms to their own castle while selling services to the other players.

The king, known for castles such as Neuschwanstein, has commissioned a new castle subject to his ever-changing whims. Start with a simple foyer and create a layout that meets his demands.

Build, Price, and Score

Each round, one player becomes the Master Builder and sets prices for the available rooms. Other players pay the Master Builder for their choices, then the Master Builder selects from the rooms left over.

Adding a room earns castle points based on its size and type, plus bonuses for its location. Complete a room by connecting all its entranceways to other rooms to receive one of seven special rewards.

The Master Builder role rotates after each purchasing round. At the end of the game, additional points are awarded for bonus goals, popular rooms, and meeting the king’s demands, which change each game. The player with the most castle points wins.
