Beyond the Sun

Beyond the Sun is a space civilization game in which players collectively decide the technological progress of humankind at the dawn of the Spacefaring Era, while competing to be the leading faction in economic development, science, and galactic influence.

The game is played over a variable number of rounds until a number of game-end achievements are collectively claimed. The winner is the faction with the most victory points, earned by researching technologies, improving their economy, controlling and colonizing systems, and completing achievements and events throughout the game.

How it works

On a turn, move your action pawn to an empty action space and take that action. Then conduct your production phase by producing ore, growing your population, or trading one of those resources for another. Finally, claim up to one achievement, if possible.

As players research more technologies, more actions become available on the technology board. These actions let players improve their economy, move spaceships, colonize systems, and research new technologies. Actions belong exclusively to the player who discovers them until the other players catch up.

Technologies come in four levels and four types: scientific, economic, military, and commercial. Higher-level technologies must match one of the types of technology leading into them, creating a different technology tree in each game.

Use these actions to increase your military strength, jump to habitable exoplanetary systems, colonize those systems, boost resource production, develop android technology that allows growth without population, and more.
